We offer a choice of round or square tube section modular handrail and guardrail systems. All of the necessary fittings and fasteners required for assembly are supplied as standard. Plus, we can offer engineering confirmation, drawings and fabrication as additional services. 

The basic design principles for GRP guardrails: 

    • Upright support sections (stanchions) 
    • Top handrail 
    • Mid (knee) rail 
    • Kicker or toe plate 
    • Floor or wall (side mount) fixing brackets 
    • A range of fittings and connectors, fasteners and fixings 

The fibreglass handrail profiles are manufactured from polyester resin and glass filaments with a surface veil by a process called pultrusion. This ensures consistently high-quality product.  The associated GRP fittings are made by a process of casting. 

The optional application of a clear polyurethane clear or paint coating, or UV wax to completed assemblies when used in exterior environments, will enhance durability by reducing any long-term colour fade.  Contact us for further details on this. 

GRP materials have been used successfully in building and construction for 50+ years, with no discernible degradation in performance. Evergrip fibreglass handrails not only offer excellent value for money, but they are also electrically non-conductive and ergonomic (warm to the touch). What’s more, GRP handrails can be specially built and installed to meet your specific requirements. Plus, they have excellent resistance to fatigue and impact and have great resistance to corrosion, common chemicals, and the weather.  Replacement of damaged components is also quick and cost-effective. 

A modular GRP handrail system can be installed in a variety of different scenarios and our fibreglass handrails are suitable for most industrial or commercial environments. We can provide custom built fibreglass railings to fit a wide range of settings.  

The provision of a mid (knee) rail and kick (toe) plate offers a full guardrail configuration.

Yellow Handrails Round Section
    • Strong and durable – load tested for safety 
    • Non corroding – no issues with rust, minimal maintenance, low life-cycle costs

    • UV resistant – maintains structural integrity after long service

    • Chemical resistant – resists a wide variety of chemicals, suitable for many environments
    • Low electrical and thermal conductivity – ideal near electrical installations or in extreme cold 
    • Light weight – reduced transport costs and load on existing structures 
    • Easy handling, fabrication and assembly – no welding.  TCT tools for cutting/drilling + bolts/rivets. 
GRP Raised Walkway with Handrail Ramp Railway Depot Road End Access

In accordance with general building standards: 

    • A maximum allowable stanchion centre to centre spacing of 1500mm (reducing stanchion spacing increases loading ability) 
    • A minimum top rail height above the walking surface of 1100mm 
    • A minimum service load of 300N/m x max. distance (m) between stanchions. 

Our GRP handrails adhere to the following design standards: 

    • The Safety of Machinery – Permanent Means of Access to machinery. Part 3: Stairways, stepladders & guardrails EN ISO 14122-3 
    • BS 6399-1 Loading for buildings – Part 1: Code of practice for dead & imposed loads 
    • BS 6180 Barriers in and about buildings – code of practice 

Your handrail is available to order in high visibility safety yellow (RAL 1023) or steel grey (RAL 7045) colours with a full range of fittings available for the modular range.

Site surveys: We offer advice, insight & free quotations through in-person site surveys or via supplied drawings/media. 

Design drawing and 3D rendering: We can help you visualise your concepts through 3D rendered CAD models. 

Engineering and standards verification: Amongst others, we have worked with Sheffield Hallam University Centre for Infrastructure Management and Exova (Element Group) to provide independently verified conformance to BS and EN tests. 

In-house fabrication & assembly: Our in-house fabrication facilities allows us to deliver bespoke–made  products. 

Installations team: Our fully trained team can install our products throughout the UK.

Covid 19 - Confirmation Statement

We would like to reassure all customers and enquirers that we remain open for business, while carefully following Government guidelines issued here:

The majority of our administration staff are working remotely and we have rostered production staff to make numbers available to meet demand.

We are able to provide the full range of our standard products from stock to serve any ongoing requirements you may have and will be pleased to receive any invitations to quote for future projects.

At the present time, in accordance with social distancing regulations we will not be conducting face to face meetings with business partners until further notice. However it may be possible to arrange video link meetings if required, please contact us for further information.

Collections of orders from our workshops are possible, by prior arrangement only please and visitors are reminded to observe the standard 2m distancing rules, for the safety of all.

Our transport partners are all providing us with a normal service.
